Publishers excited by the prospects of revenue streams from ebook sales continue to struggle with the business model. Chief amongst their concerns is a desire to monetize content at the lowest unit cost possible. While the savings from printing and distribution costs of hard-copy books seem compelling, publishers are concerned about the costs of ebook production and potential revenue streams. TexTech’s One-Touch IPAD solution for backlists and the TeXML First solution for frontlist titles offer publishers an unparalleled value proposition to increase their revenues while significantly reducing costs.

When publishers need to make hundreds or thousands of their backlist titles available for the growing ebook market, the conventional method of using manual processes for extracting content from source files, ensuring the accuracy of this content, applying XML tags, and transforming this content is fraught with quality, cost, and schedule risks.

TexTech’s Onetouch ipad ebook solution is geared for high-volume, high-quality processing of publishers’ back list titles and can deliver files in various formats, including epub, ePDF, .lit, and Mobipocket, that are required for ebook reader devices. Powered by a proprietary set of technologies, the Onetouch ipad solution ensures accurate extraction of content, correct application of XML tags, and valid transformation into multiple ebook formats.

Ingestion
The Ingestion engine accepts production master lists for ebook production in Onyx or Excel formats and loads the information into a database. IPAD comes with a user-friendly Web application that allows the publisher to add or delete titles and change distribution dates. When source materials become available for titles, automated notifications are sent to the IPAD scheduling engine to begin conversion activities.

Production
The complete ebook production is managed by Texflow – an industry-leading workflow management system created by TexTech. The production workflow consists of the following modules:
